Pump & Pipework Upgrade
Factory Installation Services (FIS) was appointed to design and install a new pumping system and associated pipework infrastructure to improve the performance, reliability, and operational resilience of the site’s treatment process.
The existing system comprised a single feed pump arrangement, which required upgrading to a twin-pump configuration to meet the client’s operational requirements. FIS designed a bespoke pumping solution that maximised efficiency while making the best possible use of the limited space available within the existing pump room. Particular consideration was given to maintenance access, operational flexibility, and future reliability.
FIS was responsible for the complete installation of the pipework system, including all connections from the pumps through the filtration and process equipment and onward to the site’s discharge points. The installation was designed and executed to achieve the required flow rates and process performance while ensuring long-term durability and ease of operation.
As part of the project, FIS also designed and installed an overhead services gantry to support pipework and cable routes. This ensured that pedestrian walkways remained safe, accessible, and free from obstructions while providing a structured and maintainable solution for the routing of services.
Additional works included the installation of a tank mixer pump to improve process mixing and the installation of a high-level air intake system to support operational requirements and enhance system performance.
The completed project delivered a robust and efficient pumping and pipework installation, improving process reliability, operational safety, and overall plant performance while making effective use of the constrained plant room environment.
